Top 10 AntiVirus

Norton:
Norton Internet security
Norton 360

Norton AntiVirus is a top-notch antivirus with impressive bonuses.Norton's fast installation and comprehensive feature set would be useless without solid performance, and Norton AntiVirus  delivers extremely high third-party efficacy benchmarks and strong performance benchmarks. For years, Norton has consistently received the VB100% award from Virus Bulletin.

In a real-world test, Norton AntiVirus completed a Quick Scan in 47 seconds; the Full Scan took 1 hour 47 minutes and 13 secondsCNET Labs' benchmarks found both Norton Internet Security 2011 and Norton AntiVirus 2011 to have performed well.
Norton Internet Security had a very small impact on the computer's shutdown time, slowing it down only by half a second. Norton AntiVirus slowed shutdown by about 2.5 seconds.Unlike Norton Antivirus , NIS and Norton 360 have their own Firewall and antispyware.

Norton 360 is mercifully light on system resources; it's intuitive, covers most of the bases that a comprehensive security-and-performance tool should, and includes free online storage.
Norton 360 provides a much better user experience and security protection than either Windows Live OneCare or McAfee Total Protection.
Norton 360 also includes tools to defragment your hard drive and clean up temporary files and other clutter than could slow your PC down. Norton 360 does include a backup and recovery tool, and provides up to 2GB of free online storage and identity protection.
The 2012 edition of both products adds support for Google's Chrome.

A small disadvantage would be that you should download and install parental controls seperately..

But , In independent threat detection and removal tests, Norton is a top performer.

Kaspersky:
Kaspersky Internet Security
Kaspersky Pure 2

The Main advantage of  Kaspersky is that it supports Multiple Scans
By default Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012 will also scan your PC whenever it's idle, so detecting threats more quickly while minimising any performance impact on your system.Significant low-level changes sees both Anti-Virus and Internet Security 2012 offering strong protection even earlier in the boot process, for instance, making it harder for rootkits to modify the operating system, and blocking attempts by malware to disable the antivirus engine.
Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 is quick to install and looks great. The program offers a huge range of features. The interface is clear of clutter whilst making it easy to find what you need. For the most part, the default settings will serve you well.

McAfee:
McAfee Internet Security
McAfee Total Protection
A company which has a long history in the security market is McAfee.
McAfee AntiVirus Plus is really good at defending a clean system, less good at cleaning up when the malware has already invaded.
McAfee Total Protection 2011 Scored well in malware blocking tests. Network management adds intrusion detection. SiteAdvisor Plus protects from phishing and malicious sites.

Compared with McAfee's antivirus, the McAfee suite adds accurate spam filtering, parental control, an encrypted file "vault", and enhancements to several existing features.

McAfee Internet Security 2011 features multi-layer protection from viruses, spyware and other online threats. However, McAfee Internet Security isn’t the best internet security suite, and needs a few more features to compete. Setting up custom firewall rules and changing the firewall configuration is possible, but can be a bit confusing. You may wish to check out our review of McAfee Family Protection for even more extensive parental control capabilities and features.
McAfee’s main user interface is well organized so you can quickly access and configure the firewall, antivirus and parental controls.

McAfee Total Protection Service Advanced includes hosted protection as a service for your endpoint desktops, file servers, and email servers. McAfee Total Protection is different than the other small buisness internet security suite solutions in this comparative review because it is a service (Security-as-a-service) rather than traditional software. That means that the solution is hosted by McAfee, web-based, and won’t require additional hardware, software, or IT personnel.

Avast:
Avast Antivirus
Avast Internet security

Avast Free antivirus is good except that Avast Pro adds a combination of some advance features with effective security for a pretty comprehensive antivirus software.
Avast 6 keeps its interface from Avast 5, and adds features both big and small.

If you are looking for a Best and Free antivirus, this is It..
The new Avast Pro Antivirus 6.0 edition keeps the striking interface and brings several new practical and usable advanced features that add to its already robust arsenal of malware protection.
These common features are available in all versions of Avast.
WebRep - provides proactive link scanning with color-coded security reputation ratings on search results.
WebRep works finely with IE , Firefox and Chrome . It supports a search result ranking and Web site reputation service that uses a combination of data from Avast's virus labs and user voting to determine a safety score for a site.

AutoSandbox - automatically opens suspicious applications in the protected virtual sandbox.
The AutoSandbox  for free Antivirus is different from Avast's paid-upgrade sandbox, and the paid upgrades to Avast Pro and Avast Internet Security.
SafeZone - an inside-out virtual desktop (sandbox) tool that is used for discreet online shopping or banking.
The new SafeZone virtual desktop may seem similar to the Avast AutoSandbox, but in reality it’s a completely different tool. The SafeZone essentially opens a new virtual desktop with an isolated web browser (powered by Google Chrome) so you can bank and shop online in a controlled environment.
Avast Internet security comes with eight protective shields other than it's Firewall and Antispyware:
File System Shield , Mail Shield
Web Shield , P2P Shield
IM Shield , Network Shield
Script Shield , Behavior Shield.
Overall, Avast Internet Security is a powerful and practical internet security suite.

AVG:
AVG Antivirus
AVG Internet Security

AVG Anti-Virus Free 2011 breathes some new life into one of the most popular security programs around with a shorter install, better usability, and faster scans.
The new AVG Free has sped up its installation process.AVG's toolbar is still an opt-out feature.
Unchanged is registration, which is a free process and can be completed from within the AVG interface.

The AVG Internet Security's smart scanning tech also gives you a built-in system resource manager that prioritizes scans.
Another big improvement has been to AVG LinkScanner.
LinkScanner, which comes with AVG Free but is also available as a separate download, now scans links posted on Facebook and MySpace.
CNET Labs' benchmarks found that AVG Anti-Virus Free 2011 had the greatest impact on computer boot time of any security suite , slowing the test computer's start-up by more than 13 seconds.
However, it also had the smallest impact on computer shutdown time, adding barely one-third of a second. The negative points are
1. Not all its components are as good as the competitions.
2. It has absolutely no Parental Controls.
3. The entire Suite shows traces of marketing language. It'll try to commandeer your default search engine for Yahoo.

AVG, unlike McAfee offers both the Online installation and the full offline package (144MB) for download. Installation is a breeze, though it requires a system restart.
But the cost , AVG Internet Security 2011 comes for Rs. 1,299. For this price you get the fully featured and top of the line Norton Internet Security Suite 2011 or for half the price, Kasperksy Internet Security Suite 2011 which is second to Norton overall.

Panda:
Panda Antivirus Pro
Panda Internet Security

Panda Cloud Antivirus is cloud-based. It consists of a lightweight antivirus agent that is connected in real-time to PandaLabs' online Collective Intelligence servers to protect faster. Panda Cloud Antivirus attained its goal of freeing up system resources by putting much of the program's heavy lifting in the cloud. It's now known an effective alternative to the security powerhouses.

One unique feature from Panda is the USB Vaccine. This simple utility allows you to “vaccinate” your PC from threats that take advantage of the “Autorun” technology and are able to infect your computer the instant an external USB drive is connected to a computer.
Another great feature is the TruPrevent Technology 2.0. This system uses behavioral analysis of files to detect malware-like activity and stop files before they have the chance to infect your computer.

CNET Labs' benchmarks determined that Panda Cloud Antivirus Free  had a small but detectable impact on system performance. It slowed down boot time by just under eight seconds as compared to an unprotected system, while computer shutdown time was more than three seconds slower. However, Cloud Antivirus' virus scan time was a zippy 540 seconds on  test computer. Panda Internet security incudes Parental control and 2GB online backup.

Panda Antivirus Pro may not be the best antivirus software, it is certainly very good. It's a great choice for resource-conscious Netbook users.

Microsoft Security Essentials:

Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) is a free antivirus suite for home users and small businesses with up to 10 PCs. The only catch about the “free” part is that your PC “must run genuine Windows”.

MSE debuted as the lightweight, cloud-based successor to the paid security suite Live OneCare in 2009. Version 2 introduces deeper hooks into Internet Explorer and the default firewall in Vista and Windows 7. Security Essentials has begun to mature, although it's still rough at the edges. It lets you choose whether to run the Windows Defender firewall, and whether to run a scan once installation is complete, although both of those are opt-out.

Another thing about MSE vs. paid antivirus suites is the lack of frequent updates for MSE. It is not quite as proactive as Kaspersky and also the impact on the system is high.

CNET Labs' benchmarks put MSE 2 at the far slower end of the scale, with a bigger impact on system performance in general than most other security options. System start-up was 11.5 seconds slower than on an unprotected PC, and system shutdown was more than 6 seconds slower whereas most suites affected the system by 2 to 4 seconds.

Virus scan times were also slow compared with the competition , but if you want more options and better results from a lightweight security option, Panda Cloud Antivirus is a safer bet.

Avira :
Avira free antivirus
Avira AntiVir Premium

Avira free antivirus software became very popular in 2008 because of its remarkably strong detection rates. It still remains near the top of independent antivirus efficacy tests. Extra protection from the paid solution is certainly worth it.

The major new features are ProActive scanning , community network  and automatic Generic Repair technology .
With the proactive AHeAD (Advanced Heuristic Analysis and Detection) technology, Avira dynamically analyzes files for particular characteristics or behavior that “give it away” as malware, and then neutralizes the threat before it has the chance to infect your computer.

AV Comparatives also found Avira AntiVir Premium to be at the top  in recent tests, catching 99.3% of the malware.
Avira still lacks a silent-running entertainment-gaming mode and the app's interface is unchanged from version 8.
Avira does  make an excellent backup suite, but its competitors have caught up with or surpassed what it can do.

F- Secure:
F-Secure Anti-Virus
F-Secure Internet Security

F-Secure is a  simple solid solution. Complete with proactive protection, cloud security and simple usability. F-Secure Anti-Virus 2011 also incorporates advanced heuristics.

Full protection from online threats (phishing, hackers, identity thieves) is only available with the upgraded F-Secure Internet Security, but the Anti-Virus software includes basic protection from viruses spread through emails, cookies, or malware that attempts to infiltrate your PC registry.

Aa advanced feature DeepGuard 2.0 utilizes “cloud security” in the form of a speedy internet-hosted database of security information.  If a program doesn’t make the grade, every other F-Secure user is protected from the same threat within 60 seconds. Best of all, this intensive security check happens in real-time and won’t even be noticed in everyday computing.

F-Secure isn’t technically the most effective, but they’re pretty close to other top antivirus contenders.
F-Secure Internet Security did a reasonably good job at blocking threats and is easy to use, but it suffers from slow scan speeds.

ESET NOD32:

Eset shined in system speed tests.
That speed is good, but all the speed in the world doesn't mean much if a security product doesn't effectively stop malware.
Installation is clean and straightforward. Greatly improved from its humble beginnings as separate scanners that once littered the desktop, NOD32 can be toggled between standard features and more advanced options.
NOD32 detected 89.2 percent of known malware samples, which is the lowest, by far, of the products we looked at.
By comparison, the average for antivirus software that we looked at was 96.2 percent, and top performers achieved over-99-percent detection ratings.

When it is updating and doing scan on start up log-in/after update sometimes hangs up the PC. And No free version in Eset.
